  • Overview

     

    The Knowledge Management Analyst, within the Data Services Informatics Group, is responsible for the development, testing, implementation, and management of biomedical terminologies and ontologies at the enterprise level used by DFCI’s Informatics’ systems, including associated models, maintenance processes, services, and tools.

     

    The Knowledge Management Analyst demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to manage data and systems independently, accurately, and effectively with attention to detail and confidentiality. The Specialist reports to Director, Data Services, and works closely with other Informatics teams and DFCI PHS IS teams as well as other closely affiliated teams at Partners. Additionally, the analyst works collaboratively with other DFCI teams and/or with external teams when applicable. This role will support business analytics, clinical operations, and research initiatives.

     

    Responsibilities

    • Provide day-to-day development and maintenance of clinical content related to various clinical terminology related content and rule development/deployment that can be enterprise wide in nature, including ambulatory care.
    • Assist, with the definition of integration, translation (mapping), migration, and conversion strategies for new and existing knowledge content and data sources, including robust change control and versioning procedures.
    • Develop high-quality technical documentation about terminologies and ontologies, including detailed descriptions of the terminology content and its associated models and processes.
    • Ensure that terminologies and ontologies provide adequate domain coverage and are compatible with relevant healthcare interoperability standards.
    • Use the DFCI’s collaboration and content management authoring/publishing tools to accomplish the above responsibilities.
    • Work collaboratively with other teams on knowledge-engineering focused projects.
    • Work with Corporate Managers and Domain Specialists to develop and evolve content management system capabilities
    • Develop training documentation and training users.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

     

    • Graduate degree in health/medical informatics or related discipline or equivalent experience;
    • Registered nurse or other allied health professions training and clinical experience preferred;
    • 2+ years Informatics training and/or experience required;
    • Knowledge of relevant healthcare data standards (i.e., RxNorm, SnoMed, LOINC, ICD-10);
    • Have basic understanding of SQL, Relational Databases and ETL;

     

    • Aptitude for systems work and clinical concepts, including a understanding of the types of the information used in the healthcare/clinical environment, also details of how clinical data are produced, consumed and transformed is required (ideally vendor, industry experience and/or formal training)
    • High-level understanding of clinical informatics and decision support and their use in healthcare delivery.
    • Good written and verbal communications skills.
    • Comfortable with learning software applications
    • Well-organized and systematic in work process.
    • Exceptionally attentive to detail.
    • Able to work collaboratively on inter-department teams.
    • Able to prioritize tasks in an efficient and effective manner.
    • Able to identify problem areas and participate in solutions.
    • Able to work independently with minimal direction and supervision.
    • Able to meet project deadlines.
