Responsible for providing technical support under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.  The Level III technician works in any of the pharmacy areas. Technician’s duties include preparing intravenous medications, manufacturing and compounding pharmaceutical products, inventory management, utilizing the various equipment and technology available in the pharmacy, , and performing various quality control tasks as assigned.  In addition, the Level III technician performs supervision of other technicians, leading their orientation and training and acting as a resource.




  1. Prepares medication


  1. Prepares all medications accurately
  2. Works efficiently, able to maintain a steady workflow
  3. Assembles medications and materials in a neat and organized manner
  4. Demonstrates good aseptic technique
  5. Leads and participates in the training and orientation of level I and level II pharmacy technicians


  1. Inventory Management


  1. Maintains adequate levels of stock medications and materials for assigned work area
  2. Participates in inventory management


  1. Technology


  1. Has working knowledge of and is able to use all technology required to perform functions of daily duties, is a super user in the pharmacy application
  2. Lead and participate in training and orientation of level I and level II pharmacy technicians
  3. Identify when technology is not working properly and triage as appropriate


  1. Participates in quality control


  1. Cleans pharmacy hoods and related areas as required by policy and procedure
  2. Identifies, removes, and replaces outdated medications/stock in pharmacy areas
  3. Disposes of and documents non reusable medications consistently and appropriately
  4. Maintains all required logs and documentation
  5. Verify that quality controls are being completed daily and escalate any gaps identified




  1. High school graduate or currently enrolled in an accredited entry-level degree program for pharmacy or related field
  2. Massachusetts Board of Pharmacy Registration as Pharmacy Intern or Pharmacy Technician
  3. National Pharmacy Certification required
  4. At least five years pharmacy technician experience with three years oncology IV admixture experience
