Overview

An Instructor position is available at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School in the Department of Radiation Oncology, Division of Medical Physics and Biophysics. Candidates with a PhD, or equivalent, in physics, astronomy, computer science, medical physics, engineering or a related subject and substantial postdoctoral experience are invited to apply. The successful applicant will participate in an NIH funded project to develop and test flat-panel detectors for MV x-ray imaging applications. We are seeking motivated individuals with well-developed communication skills and the desire and talent to tackle technical problems. Significant programming experience is a must; familiarity with image processing and/or reconstruction techniques would be valued highly.

Responsibilities

Description:

Under the supervision of the Principal Investigator, independently carries out and designs highly sophisticated and independent experiments. Will work in laboratory space dedicated to Principal Investigator or in clinical space under supervision of senior physicists.  Will potentially also establish successful project-specific collaborations in a variety-of directions, collaborating also with Senior Physicians.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Researches, develops, designs, executes and interprets research experiments.
  2. Contributes to scientific literature, reports, journals and presentations.
  3. Investigates, creates and develops new methods and technologies for research advancement.

Qualifications:

The successful candidate will have recently completed graduate studies in an MD, PhD, or MD/PhD program with a strong research and publication record in the biological or physical sciences.

  • Strong database statistical skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of field of research.
  • Excellent time management/organizational skills.
  • Strong written and verbal presentation skills.
