Responsibilities

The cBio Center in the Department of Biostatistics and Computational Biology (BCB) at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (DFCI) seeks a full-time Administrative Support Specialist to join their team.  This person will be responsible for providing administrative support to the Center’s Director, faculty members, and staff.  This person will also be a member of BCB's Business Office. 

 

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Day-to-day administrative support for the cBio Center, including scheduling for the Center Director
  • Coordinate meetings and center events
  • Work with Human Resources to recruit and onboard personnel
  • Coordinate travel arrangements and visas
  • Reconcile corporate cards and prepare expense reports
  • Weekly timekeeping
  • Purchase orders and requisitioning
  • Liaise with the Human Resources and Grant Management offices at Harvard Medical School, where the Center Director has an appointment

Job qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and relevant experience required. The successful candidate is self-motivated and detail-oriented, thrives in a start-up, deadline-driven environment, can juggle multiple priorities, and enjoys problem-solving. Must be effective in an academic research environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat, file sharing software, calendaring and event planning.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent ability to work independently and balance multiple projects and tasks simultaneously.
  • Strong ability to work as part of a team.
  • Must be able to function effectively in ambiguous conditions, recognize trends, and identify systemic approaches to solving problems in a fast-moving, constantly changing environment.
  • Must have the highest level of professionalism and discretion.
