This job family is the frontline staff responsible for the communication with Clinical staff and researchers concerning the banking and transactions of research samples for the Pasquarello Tissue Laboratory (PTL), CMCF.



  • All staff needs to perform and document daily assigned tasks during their shift, such as equipment maintenance.   Additional assigned duties as assigned on a weekly basis are required to be completed by the end of the week, such as transferring of Ficoll to bags and centrifuge cleaning. 

  • Logs in research samples for cryopreservation and storage
  • Processes research samples for cryopreservation and storage
  • Prepares single cell suspensions from lymph nodes
  • Growing mesenchymal cell lines
  • Enters sample information into database and performs sample searches.
  • Retrieves samples and data from other departments, as required
  • Catalogs and maintains sample inventory in logs and databases.
  • Assist with the distribution and shipment of samples for special protocols.
  • Transports products and samples between Brigham and Women's Hospital, the Kraft Family Donor Center and DFCI Lab control.
  • Performs low complexity lab procedures with appropriate training.
  • Assists other lab staff, as required.
  • Performs various quality control procedures on equipment. Reports unexpected findings to the appropriate supervisor.
  • Coach staff, perform receipt and quarantining of materials and reagents, write deviations, troubleshoot problems and problem solve, aid in the execution of validations and QC tasks.


  • High School diploma and previous laboratory experience required.
  • Working knowledge of computer systems required.
  • Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing.
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills.
  • Able to lift 50 lbs.
