The Division of Population Sciences is looking for a Research Assistant I (RAI) to work on a variety of cancer research projects that focus on both pediatric and adult patient populations.  The Research Assistant’s efforts will primarily be focused on conducting medical record reviews, interacting with study participants in person and via phone, conducting interviews and administering surveys, maintaining regulatory documents, and tracking all study documentation and communication. The RA will work with other Research Assistants, Project Managers, and a variety of clinicians and researchers to accomplish the aims of the projects.      


Under general supervision, the Research Assistant I may be responsible for some or all of the following:

  • Conduct medical record reviews for a variety of cancer types with a focus on tracking the trajectory of patient care and outcomes after a cancer diagnosis.
  • Collect and enter research data.
  • Interview study participants via phone or in person.
  • Recruit patients to participate in clinical and socio-behavioral research studies.
  • Maintain study databases and project documentation with organization and accuracy.
  • Assist with documentation for and communication with institutional review board; maintain regulatory documentation.
  • Maintain the security and confidentiality of all study materials and data.
  • Assist team in the coordination of project-related activities.
  • Assist with coordination and preparation of project related meetings as requested and may be responsible for meeting minutes.
  • Assist in preliminary analysis of data.
  • Conduct relevant literature searches and reviews as requested.
  • Other project-related or administrative responsibilities as requested by management.


  • Bachelor’s degree in public health, natural or social science, or pre-med preferred.  
  • The ideal candidate will have education, experience, and/or interest in:
  • Working directly with patients, caregivers, and study participants
  • Conducting medical record reviews
  • Data collection and entry

  • Patient-centered outcomes
