The Pharmacy Inventory Specialist provides inventory support to the Pharmacy Department. The Inventory specialist ensures that all inventories are maintained at all locations, workflows and processes are followed and documentation is maintained for inventory transactions.  The specialist coordinates the rotation of inventory to ensure the number of expired products is kept to a minimum.  The indiviudal in this position is a super-user for all inventory related equipment and technology and is responsible for ensuring preventative maintenance.  The specialist meets with representatives of pharmaceutical distributors, companies and vendors to resolve any issues, keep current on any changes.  The specialist serves as a resource to pharmacy staff.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for determining the inventory level and storage of all items stocked in the Pharmacy and for the replenishment of all drugs and supplies, including those products needed for the infusion units, clinics and research laboratories.
  • Audits inventory transactions at each location to ensure compliance with workflows and procedures
  • Coordinates physical inventory
  • Responsible for monthly inventory reports
  • Responsible for inventory reconcilliation.
  • Maintains and leads the technology used for inventory management
  • Coordinates the annual inventory and helps coordinate the teaching of the proper techniques of inventory management to staff.
  • Conducts and coordinates orientation and training of pharmacy staff to inventory processes and workflows.

Qualifications

  • At least two years of college or equivalent business/inventory control experience.
  • Pharmacy technician or prior pharmacy purchasing experience preferred.
  • Possesses interpersonal communication skills
  • Attention to detail 
  • Prioritization and organization of work
  • Experience with: Excel, Word, and PeopleSoft
  • Ability to handle frequent interruptions and adapt to environmental changes
