Overview

The Dana-Farber Cancer Institute seeks a talented NMR spectroscopist to drive a highly collaborative NMR facility in our Longwood Center laboratories.  The facility is part of a shared Core with Harvard Medical School; key functions include small-molecule structure determination, studies of protein-ligand interactions, and fragment-based screening.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a 500 MHz NMR instrument as an open-access resource for DFCI, HMS and outside researchers
  • Train and supervise users in use of the instruments and associated software
  • Implement newly developed experiments
  • Track usage and manage chargeback/billing for the core
  • Assist users in data interpretation and challenging structure determinations
  • Coordinate use of shared spectrometers with Director of the HMS NMR Core
  • Execute NMR-based fragment screens and assist users in data analysis

The successful applicant will support Dana-Farber faculty with interests and expertise in chemical biology, medicinal chemistry, drug discovery, and structural biology.

Qualifications

Applicants should have extensive practical experience in NMR and a Ph.D. in a relevant discipline. Experience in protein structure determination using solution NMR is preferred. The ideal candidate will be able to employ a wide range of methods in modern biomolecular NMR in support of cancer drug discovery and to contribute to preparation of funding proposals. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are required. The successful applicant will be appointed to the Research Scientist Track, at a level and salary commensurate with abilities and experience.
