Responsibilities

  • Reporting to the Senior Manager of Patient Accounting, the Patient Accounting Manager will be responsible for the daily management and operations of the Governmental Follow Up Team.
  • Accountable for guiding the staff and ensuring metrics are met and often exceeded in both productivity and claims payment collections.
  • Will be consistently looked upon to take a pro-active approach and provide management with process improvement concepts and initiatives to improve staff engagement and productivity.
  • Expected to stay up-to-date on all current and impending payer policies, initiatives and industry trends.
  • Maintains department policies and procedures and ensures proper adherence by both self and staff.
  • Coordinates staff trainings in accordance with claims follow up best practices.
  • Works across the Revenue Cycle with other Managers, Senior Managers and Directors to improve department relationships and interdependent processes.
  • Participates in cross functional work groups and provide feedback to the Patient Financial Services management and staff.

 

Qualifications

  • College education preferred or a minimum of 5 years’ patient accounting experience in the governmental space. Prior managerial/supervisor experience required. Prior hospital and/or physician billing experience or equivalent required.
  • Knowledge of third party regulations.
  • Knowledge of patient accounting regulations preferred, specifically related to Blue Cross Blue Shield, Medicare, Medicaid and other Government payers.
  • Well organized, detail-oriented and dependable.
  • Preferred experience working with Medicare FISS, Connex, third-party websites and Epic.
  • Excellent/professional communications skills including both verbal and written skills.
  • Team player, self-starter-leader, ability to train others, ability to establish priorities and direct others, ability to recognize and solve problems, ability to meet deadlines, ability to take direction & familiarity with medical terminology.
