Chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) remains the most common leukemia of adults and is incurable. Several novel therapies are substantially altering the treatment landscape for CLL, however, and studying mechanisms of resistance to these therapies is of great interest. Our lab focuses on CLL and the genomics of CLL with several particular interests, one of which is identifying mechanisms of resistance to novel therapies, especially kinase inhibitors. Another major interest of the laboratory is the genetic basis of CLL heritability, and the person in this position will focus more on these germline analyses.

This fellowship will focus on the analysis of rare germline variants between CLL cases and controls. The ideal candidate will be able to perform their own bioinformatics analyses of these data and will support others in the lab in their analyses of similar data. Validation of key findings at the bench will also be a significant component of the position. The ideal candidate will have familiarity and experience working with molecular genetics/genomics and bioinformatics, as well as cloning, validation, and studies of the biologic function of candidate mutations.
Previous experience in molecular biology and informatics is required. This position will focus especially on high-throughput genomic analyses and requires good computational skills and familiarity with bioinformatics. MD, PhD or MD/PhD is required.
