Responsible for various aspects of financial, business, and operational analysis within Nursing and Patient Care Services. Provides assistance to management and administrative personnel through the extrapolation, interpretation and summarization of data for strategic business purposes. Responsible for a wide range of tasks related to analysis of departmental budgets and clinic operations. Responsible for various administrative and business functions within the department of nursing, including but not limited to purchasing, contract management, and vendor relationship management.

Responsibilities

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

 

Under limited supervision, this position is responsible for routine reporting requirements and ensures accuracy and timeliness of data reported.

  • Prepares monthly, quarterly, annual and ad hoc reports and furnishes data on an as needed basis.
  • Works with IT and other pertinent departments to research and resolve data discrepancies.
  • Develops reports and dashboards using business intelligence tools such as Microstrategy, Tableau, Microsoft Excel, etc.
  • Assists with the development of the annual financial and statistical operating budget for the department.       Prepares budget variance reports quarterly.
  • Assists with the development, implementation and operation of systems and processes to support the activities and goals of Nursing and Patient Care Services.
  • Participates in the business process redesign and improvement of key functions and tasks within the administration of Nursing and Patient Care Services.
  • Understanding interdependences of processes and analyses and proposes ways to improve them.
  • The ability to handle complex and multi-part analyses and prepare summaries of important points.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

  • Requires superior computer skills in MS Office applications. Experience with data mining, relational databases, and SQL query tools is a plus.
  • Must have superior judgment, discretion, interpersonal skills and communication skills to effectively work and communicate on sensitive political and confidential issues with clinical staff and senior management.
  • Must be able to function independently in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities.
  • Must pay particular attention to understanding the detail by performing reconciliations, implementing controls, and reviewing work completed.  
  • Must be committed to a customer service philosophy.
  • Must be committed to working closely with others in a team-oriented approach.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required, MBA or master's degree preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in finance and business preferably in a health care environment
  • Excellent quantitative, analytic and problem solving skills; demonstrated advanced proficiency in financial skills and data analysis; able to draw meaning and present conclusions effectively
  • Strong writing skills; ability to creatively use tables, graphs, charts 
  • Strong results orientation, teamwork, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong attention to detail and high deliverable quality
  • Advanced Word, Excel and PowerPoint skills; Access skills preferred 
  • Excellent organizational skills
