The Pharmacy Manager - Business Operations is responsible for managing the day-to-day non-clinical pharmacy services to ensure efficient and effective operations and financial performance while adhering to established policies, procedures and standards. This position will work closely with the Director of Pharmacy Operantion in the development of pharmacy operational, business plans ahd with the VP of Pharmacy for the budget strategic planning.

Responsibilities

 

  • Conducts analysis of operational and business issues to ensure effective and efficient financal and operational performance and benchmarking.
  • Participates in payer contracting, negogiation and monitoring for medications.
  • Develops and maintains performance metrics and dashboard for budget performance operations.
  • Establishes and works closely with accounts payable on the process and management of drugs, supplies and research related medications/supplies.
  • Participates in the development of the capital budgets.
  • Maintains current on patterns and trends regarding new medications and medications that are in the pipeline for FDA approval.
  • Develops the multiyear drug budget.

 

 

 

  •  Assists in the development, management and assessment of annual budgets and performance to budget and revenue projections.
  • Develops and oversees quality improvement projects, data management, project management and continuous monitoring parameters.
  • Assists in the development and implementation of the pharmacy information technology strategic plan, specific to budget planning, forecasting and contract compliance.
  • Serves on a number of departmental and inter-departmental committees..
  • Remains current regarding trends and development in pharmacy practice and serves as a role model to the professional and technical staff.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in pharmacy, business administration or management required, Masters degree preferred. 
  • Six years of management experience with two years operations experience or equivalent.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills. 
  • Prioritization and organization of work under stress and time constraints 
  • Problem solving and critical thinking skills needed.
  • Ability to prevent and resolve intradepartmental and interdepartmental problems 
  • Ability to make and implement decisions 
  • Must have supervisory training, organization, and time management skills in order to achieve departmental goals.
