The Ligon Laboratory at the DFCI is seeking motivated individuals for the position of post-doctoral research fellow. This postdoctoral position is open to PhD, MD, or MD/PhD candidates. The successful candidate will join a dynamic research team within the Brain Tumor Research Center at DFCI/BWH to work on the basic and translational science of brain tumors. Research areas include the study of cancer cell biology, precision medicine, cancer responses to targeted therapies, transcription factors.

Responsibilities

The individual will have opportunity to perform and learn cutting edge techniques in human patient derived cancer models (PDX, PDCL), mouse models, genomic studies of human tissues and models, and new methods in the area of functional diagnostics and single cell technologies capable of guiding use of cancer therapies. The successful candidate will perform research that will help make fundamental insights to cancer biology. The work will also guide human clinical trials of novel therapeutics through academic/industry collaborations leading to valuable experience in preclinical science.

Qualifications

  • PhD, MD, or MD/PhD is required
  • At least 2 years of prior experience in lab research is required
  • The position will require the handling of small laboratory animals and patient specimens
  • A minimum 3-year commitment is required.
