Provides direct patient care to patients being treated at existing Dana-Farber Cancer Institute's Network locations (in Weymouth, MA). The satellite cross coverage RN will be assigned to a satellite location on a time limited basis based on business needs including but not limited to staff vacancy, leaves of absences or patient volume. Requires travel and the ability to quickly assimilate to new environments and foster team relationships at each site. The satellite cross coverage nurse's responsibilities include assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of nursing care for a complex patient population. Provides patient and family education and psychosocial and emotional support. Provides staffing support across the DFCI satellite practices and is a member of each multidisciplinary care team. Effective communication and collaboration is required with physicians, co-workers and staff at the satellite practices, DFCI, host hospital, and other collaborating institutions and agencies. Requires travel and schedule flexibility along with clinical expertise, critical thinking, collaborative practice, excellent communication skills and an understanding of the principles and practices of clinical research. The Mission, Vision and Core values of the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute are incorporated into all areas of practice. Requires travel to DFCCC Weymouth and South Shore locations. Reports to Senior Nurse Director, Satellites and Network Practices.
