A research technician position (entry level) is available in the Oncologic Pathology laboratory of Dr. Ruben Carrasco. Prior experience in laboratory research is required. Applicant must have basic molecular biology skills (e.g. immunoblotting, PCR). The position will involve the study of stem cells, and hematologic, stomach and brain tumors. It will lead to significant experience in a wide range of techniques such as human tissue biomarker analysis, flow cytometry, stem cell culture, transgenic mouse models of cancer, image analysis, genomics studies, and specialized hematologic and oncologic techniques. Developing independence will be fostered, and opportunities for intellectual input will also be readily available although performance of some basic laboratory duties will be required.

Prior experience in lab research is preferred. Undergraduate degree in molecular biology, bioengineering, or a closely related field is recommended. The position will require the handling of small laboratory animals, and training for this will be provided.
A minimum 2-year commitment is also required.
