The Nascent Transcriptomics Core and Weinstock laboratory at Harvard Medical School are seeking a shared Research Technician to join our team. Analysis of nascent RNA – RNA that is actively being synthesized by RNA polymerase – can reveal details of the cell's transcriptional responses to drugs and other perturbations in a way that other RNA sequencing methods can miss. Further, nascent RNA-seq is quickly becoming a method of choice for the identification of regulatory elements such as enhancers. To support the growing interest in the nascent transcriptome across the research community, the core aims to make high-quality nascent RNA library construction and analysis available across the HMS community. The Weinstock laboratory partners with the Core to develop strategies for applying nascent transcriptomics to the biology and targeting of lymphoid malignancies.
The Research Technician will work with the Weinstock laboratory and the Core and report to both. Responsibilities will include: the construction of nascent RNA libraries, optimization of existing methods, continued innovation of new techniques and application of this technology to biologic questions relevant to lymphomas and leukemias. This is an opportunity to learn cutting-edge NGS methods, gain experience with laboratory automation (Agilent Bravo) and provide a valuable, collaborative service to scientists across Harvard Medical School and the greater Boston area.
