    GENERAL SUMMARY: 

    The Assistant Director of Principal & Major Gifts (PMG) II will report directly to one Director of Principal & Major Gifts, and bear primary responsibility for building a pipeline and individual portfolio of prospects with capacity of $100K+. His/her primary focus will be on identifying, qualifying, and soliciting prospects for major gifts of $100K+.  He/she will also focus on the tracking and moves management for newly identified major gift prospects and donors.

    Responsibilities

    PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Responsible for closing Major Gifts and building a pipeline of Major Gift donors;
    • Focus on general pipeline and project-based fundraising;
    • Oversee fundraising for a TBD portfolio of faculty and/or programmatic areas, and work with faculty as appropriate to identify funding priorities;
    • Work entrepreneurially to coordinate the tracking and moves management for a portfolio of prospects and qualify the pipeline for general fundraising;
    • Manage a dynamic portfolio of approximately 200-250 prospects with a goal of raising at least $750K-$1M annually;
    • Oversee all details relating to reporting, tracking, and next steps follow-up for this dynamic portfolio with a focus on driving the solicitation process forward;
    • Responsible for meeting an annual fundraising goal set with a Director of Principal & Major Gifts;
    • Work with the Director of Principal & Major Gifts and the Assistant Vice President of Principal & Major Gifts on mid-year and year-end reporting;
    • Conduct 10 – 12 donor visits a month;
    • Perform special projects, donor tours, and faculty meetings as assigned.

     

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Reports to a Director of Principal & Major Gifts. Joint supervision of one Assistant.

    Qualifications

    MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

    Bachelor’s degree with 5-8 years of Major Gift or leadership level Annual Fund experience required.

     

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

    A strategic thinker with significant donor experience, excellent planning, verbal and written communication, and organizational skills are necessary. Effectiveness in working with wide audiences (including highest level of Dana-Farber constituencies) and strong customer service will be key. Flexible to act as a Dana-Farber generalist to encourage pipeline prospects to get involved in ways outside of major gifts.  Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite required. Volunteer management experience preferred. Candidate with an entrepreneurial approach to fundraising desired.
