  • Overview

    The Level III Pharmacy Materials Management Technician is responsible for providing technical support for pharmacy inventory management. Technician’s duties include ordering and receiving from institute vendors/sponsors, putting away stock, managing storage space & locations, requisitioning and replenishing materials, and performing various quality control tasks as assigned.  In addition, the Level III technician performs supervision of other technicians, leading their orientation and training, and designated super-user on department technology. The Level III Pharmacy Materials Management Technician acts as a knowledge resource for inventory management for staff in the department.

    Responsibilities include the following:

    • Receiving medication and supply orders from various DFCI Vendors and/or Sponsors
    • Order medication and supplies from DFCI bendors and/or Sponsors
    • Manage drug and supply storage space and locations
    • Working knowledge and superuser of drug storage and inventory technology
    • Participates in inventory quality control include product cycle counting, expired medications etc.
    • Initiates and participates in staff orientation, training and on-going competency
    • Initiates and participates in special projects




    1. High school graduate or currently enrolled in an accredited entry-level degree program for pharmacy or related field
    2. Massachusetts Board of Pharmacy Registration as Pharmacy Intern or Pharmacy Technician
    3. National Pharmacy Technician Certification required
    4. At least five years of pharmacy technician experience with at least 3 years of outpatient/retail experience, materials management experience preferred
    5. Intermediate computer skills: Internet Explorer, Outlook, Excel, and Word

    We may consider hiring strong candidates  with a minimum of two to five years pharmacy technician experience with National Certification for a Level II technician .
