    Responsible for numerous general accounting functions that involve preparation, analysis, reconciliation, interpretation, and maintenance of the Institute's general accounting records, internal and external financial reports and accounting policies and procedures. Provides assistance to management in the implementation of new or modified accounting systems and in the coordination and preparation for audits.

    Responsibilities

    • Assist in the development, implementation and operation of systems,  including the new Lease Accounting system to support the activities and goals of Financial Operations.
    • Work with IT and other pertinent departments to research and resolve data and system discrepancies.
    • Prepare sub-system reconciliations and  Balance Sheet reconciliations and analyses, as required, to support the monthly general ledger closing process. 
    • Responsible for monitoring and maintaining DFCI's Project Costing (PC) and Asset Management (AM) modules of PeopleSoft Financials. 
    • Plan, execute, and document a number of equipment inventories annually
    • Responsible for providing detailed reconciliations and analyses for assigned duties and special projects. 
    • Assist Manager in supporting the Insurance program, including the renewal process and providing certificates of Insurance as requested.

     

    Qualifications

    • Bachelors degree, or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or related field is required;
    • Minimum of 5 + years of related work experience in the health care industry or a non-profit organization
    • Requires technical and professional accounting skills; strong reconciliation skills; the ability to develop and maintain computer-based, automated accounting systems, accounting procedures and control; familiarity with policies and procedures related to responsibilities; possesses the appropriate oral and written communication skills to train and advise others.
    • Must demonstrate strong interpersonal skills.
    • Must also demonstrate the ability to work independently and also be committed to working closely with others in a team-oriented approach.
    • Must possess a customer-service philosophy.
    • Must be able to handle problem solving, and issue resolution.
    • Must be able to work as a team member.
    • Must bring issues and concerns to the attention of the Manager.
