    This position will assist scientists in performing scientific research, development and/or clinical tasks of varying complexity. In general, this position will assist in the set up, operation and maintenance of laboratory instruments and equipment, monitoring experiments, making observations and calculating and recording results.



    Job Summary


    A full-time position is available for a highly motivated research technician to examine translational aspects of malignant cancer “Renal Cell Carcinoma” (kidney cancer), including how cancer cells evade the immune system.  The laboratory uses a variety of biochemical, cell biology, and translational approaches to identify new therapeutic targets, generate preclinical models, and ultimately develop novel therapies for kidney cancer.  The technician will be responsible for extensive cell culture, basic handling of DNA and RNA, including PCR, transfection and retroviral transduction of murine and human cells, flow cytometry, preparation of reagents and media used in lab experiments, operation and maintenance of standard lab equipment. The technician will also engage in exciting opportunities to sequence DNA and RNA from single cells and learn data analysis; thus, the candidate should have meticulous record keeping skills. This position will also require processing of mouse tissue samples, and the ideal candidate would be willing to learn basic mouse handling skills. Training is available in all procedures. Previous experience in cell culture techniques preferred.




    Minimum of B.A./B.S. with experience in molecular biology and previous experience in cell culture techniques preferred. Some previous laboratory experience is required.
