    The Monoclonal Antibody Core at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute has an opening for a highly motivated and detail oriented individual with a proficiency in cell culture.  This position involves the generation of monoclonal antibodies for use as Biomarkers and BioTherapeutic reagents in support of client research projects.

    Responsibilities

    • This position requires a very organized, detail-oriented individual with highly developed cell culture skills.  Experience with hybridoma technology and the development of monoclonal antibodies would be a plus.  Qualified individuals will be required to perform ELISA screening assays, flow cytometry assays (FACS), Western blots and some work with small animals (mice, rats).  This individual must be able to work independently, be highly motivated, flexible and keep meticulous records.   Computer skills such as utilizing Microsoft Office software and data entry are required.  Candidates should also have good communicational skills and be prepared to present data to small groups.  

     

    Essential Job Functions:

     

    1. Development of monoclonal antibodies using hybridoma technology.
    2. Maintenance and banking of hybridoma cell lines.
    3. Production of monoclonal antibodies in bioreators.
    4. Characterization of monoclonal antibodies by isotyping, ELISA, western blot, flow cytometry, immunoprecipitation and immunohistochemistry.
    5. Preparation of media and reagents.
    6. Immunization, bleeding and tissue collection from laboratory animals.
    7. Maintenance of records and equipment.
    8. Ordering of supplies and tracking orders.
    9. Responsibility for receipt and distribution of goods.
    10. Interacting with clients about projects and transfer of materials.

     

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's Degree required
    • Minimum of 2-4 years related experience 
    • Knowledge of information and techniques related to either biology, chemistry, or medicine is preferred.
    • Must have excellent communication skills (written and verbal) and be able to work with a wide variety of faculty and staff.
    • Ability to analyze information and use logic to address work-related issues and problems.
    • Must have attention to detail and be thorough in completing work tasks.
    • Ability to work within a team environment.
