The Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and the Department of Pathology at Brigham and Women’s Hospital (BWH) are seeking an academic leader to serve as the chair of the Department of Oncologic Pathology at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and hold an appointment as Professor/Associate Professor of Pathology at Harvard Medical School (HMS). The chosen candidate will also be a key member of the Department of Pathology at BWH.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the full scope of clinical, research and educational activities of the department as well as collaborative activities with other departments, Partners HealthCare System, HMS, and other affiliated institutions, including the Dana-Farber/Harvard Cancer Center. The successful candidate will provide leadership to develop and grow nationally recognized peer-reviewed scholarly activity, recruit, develop, and retain outstanding faculty. This person will continue the development of novel research in fundamental, basic, and translational sciences and clinical/effectiveness of care while establishing priorities for potential medical breakthroughs in the diagnosis and treatment of disease-specific conditions. This individual will be responsible for training residents, fellows and medical students as well as participating in HMS courses.
Applicants must have an M.D., M.D.-Ph.D. or Ph.D. (or equivalent) and a proven track record of extramurally funded research. Candidates should have a national recognition for research accomplishments, possess leadership and managerial skills, and have a demonstrated record as a mentor and as a teacher. Ideally, the selected candidate will be a proven leader who can lead a complex and successful department to even higher levels of excellence.
