    The Patient Safety Program Manager is responsible directing, implementing, and evaluating patient safety and clinical improvement initiatives across the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (DFCI) continuum. This individual is an integral member of the Quality and Patient Safety Department reporting directly to the Senior Director of Patient Safety.

    Responsibilities

    • Lead and support patient safety and clinical improvement projects to ensure the safe, effective and patient-centered quality of care.
    • Reviews and analyzes safety reports for all DFCI locations including ambulatory, inpatient, and network sites for adult and pediatric care
    • Conducts investigations into events and near misses
    • Uses data derived from safety reports and investigations to identify and prioritize improvements
    • Partner with process improvement to enhance system safety and process standardization
    • Collaborates with the Quality Improvement and Patient Safety Department staff on improvement projects, accreditation review, and root cause analyses.
    • Support Executive Patient Safety Rounds to obtain feedback from staff regarding patient safety throughout the organization
    • Provide clinical expertise in the advancement of patient safety initiatives throughout the Institute
    • Analysis and coding of safety reporting data for the Institute submitted through the DFCI safety reporting system and identify opportunities to improve patient safety throughout DFCI.
    • Represent patient safety at various DFCI committees
    • Provide advisory support to DFCI’s growing international collaborations in oncology care to develop and promote comprehensive programs for patient safety

    • Clinician (MD, RN, NP, PA, PharmD) required
    • Experience in an oncology setting, strongly preferred
    • Bachelor’s degree required
    • Preferred advanced degree in related field (MA, MBA, MPH, MSN etc.)
    • 5+ years professional experience in a healthcare setting strongly preferred
    • 1-2 years experience in patient safety, risk management, clinical/regulatory affairs, and/or quality improvement preferred.
