    Work closely with the Critical Alarms Monitoring System (CAMS) Manager, research faculty and staff, and department management to provide operational and administrative management support for the Critical Alarm Monitoring System Core at Dana-Farber. We are currently looking for a Building Controls/Freezer Technician to work 3rd shift (hours 11pm to 7am Monday through Friday). This position includes a shift differential. 


    • Provide input into the planning, operation and coordination of the CAMS Core
    • Conduct testing of all equipment monthly
    • Perform system wide programming changes
    • Conduct annual Preventative Maintenance for freezers.  Follow up on any issues noted with research staff.  Distribute reports and manage inventory database for each freezer.
    • Maintain contact information of CAMS Responders in Siemens and AWARE systems
    • Assess and provide recommendations for repair or replacement of malfunctioning equipment
    • Replace freezer batteries upon request
    • Monitor equipment either remotely, or on campus when necessary during scheduled power outages
    • Provide emergency response (as a last resort) for equipment incidents


    -B.S. degree preferred; experience working with equipment alarm in a research setting a plus.

    -Valid refrigeration license preferred.




    • Experience working with equipment alarm in a research setting a plus.
    • Background in refrigeration, cascade loop/sequence in Ultra-Low Temperature compressors.
    • Basic scientific background a plus.
    • Knowledge of building automation/controls.
    • Superb interpersonal skills, service oriented and able to interface with a wide range of personalities.
    • Excellent organizational skills required with the ability to multi-task.
    • Must be able to work independently and make quick decisions based on a variety of circumstances.
    • In-depth knowledge of various types of freezers and lab equipment required.
    • Mechanically Inclined.
    • Knowledge of specimen and tissue handling a plus.
    • Knowledge of computer programming.
    • Must be familiar and able to work in a laboratory environment
    • Share on-call duty with CAMS Manager
    • Frequent travel to various on-site and off-site locations; mileage reimbursement, and free parking is available after training is completed for 2nd and 3rd shift technicians.  
    • Will be responsible for hazardous material handling
