    The Patient Accounting Reimbursement Specialist processes adjustments for claims to include contractuals and other adjustments as needed for completion of account activity. Refer accounts to appropriate staff member for additional action. Work credit balances on accounts as required to include processing of refunds, invoices, or adjustments to claims. Maintain files as necessary for reference and keep informed on updated billing regulations required for payer assigned. Assist other staff members as necessary in aspects of appropriate billing and follow up procedures. Performs other duties as assigned and adheres to compliance of all Departmental, Institutional, and Regulatory policy.

    Responsibilities

    • Responsible for review of monthly denials for all payers.
    • Meet with managers to address denials.
    • Act as liaison to address CDM requests and issues.
    • Responsible for coding accounts required through the rejection hold bill process. 
    • Responsible for determining appeal able denials and reports to Director about services that should have a covered status with F.I. Inform Senior Billing specialist/management of problem/questionable accounts. 

    Qualifications

    • Associates degree or higher required. 
    • Prior billing experience required (2 years minimum) in hospital and /or professional setting or proven relevant experience. 
    • Demonstrated ability to learn & adapt to a changing environment, PC experience, calculation abilities.
    • Knowledge of third party billing regulations. 
    • Good communications experience, both verbal and written
    • Ability to be a team player and a self-starter 
    • Dependable, ability to take direction, and follow through, capable of handling large volume of data, ability to meet deadlines, well organized, detail oriented, some medical terminology knowledge, & ability to assist/train other personnel.
