    The Marasco lab is seeking a new Program Manager.  This position is created to support a newly funding program entitled “The Dana Research Program on CAR-T Cell Factories for Solid Tumors” which is designed to move 5 pre-clinical research programs for the treatment of cancer into the clinic over the next 3 years.  As Program Manager, this individual with be involved with all administrative matters related to the program including communications with industry and DFCI research, clinical and administrative staff.  S/he also needs to regularly report on CART updates on ClinicalTrails.gov.

     

    This individual will also be responsible for managing the day-to-day lab administrative operations of the Marasco lab in the Department of Cancer Immunology & Virology. He/she will provide knowledgeable and skilled advisory and administrative support to the Principal Investigator, Deputy Director and Departmental Grants Management Specialist. He/she must utilize broad management, organizational, fiscal and technical skills, and be able to communicate effectively with staff, faculty, students and DFCI / CIV stakeholders

    Responsibilities

    1) Manages administrative and operations support for the group

    • Provide advanced communications support to PI which includes screening calls and email and determining appropriate response to inquiries.
    • Maintain the Principal Investigator’s calendar which entails scheduling meetings, booking travel and working with PI to minimize scheduling conflicts.
    • Maintain the lab website.  Develop and maintain a centralized, public lab calendar to include: travel, vacation of personnel, protocol deadlines, lab meetings and various lab related assignments.
    • Coordinates grant and fellowship application with the Department Grant Management Specialist (DGMS).  Perform regular web search for grant opportunities that are relevant to the lab research.  Maintain a calendar for pre- and post-award grant deadlines,
    • Coordinates travel arrangements for lab members and prospective lab candidates.
    • Manages the annual staff review process.

    2) Provides direction to and supervision of laboratory staff to ensure compliance with laboratory safety IRB, and animal trainings (to include DFCI, NIH and mandatory sponsor trainings) and maintain overall good laboratory practice.

     

    3) Works with PI and lab members on human subjects and animal protocol submissions and annual updates.

     

    4) Oversees requests through Material Transfer Agreements and coordinates them with the Office for Research Technology Ventures (ORTV). 

     

    5) Works with ORTV and outside intellectual property law firm to schedule calls and meetings to review invention disclosures, patent filings, PTO office actions.  

     

    6)  Coordinates intellectual property paperwork (confidentiality agreements, disclosures, assignments) with the Office of General Counsel.

     

    7) Works closely with the Department Grant Management Specialist on financial matters pertaining to lab reimbursements, honorariums, monthly JP Morgan reconciliation.

     

    8) Assists CIV’s designated Human Resources specialist with on-boarding and terminating personnel, visa applications, coordination of new staff orientation and trainings, academic and hospital appointments

     

    9) Proof-reads manuscripts and reports. Oversees journal submissions. Assists with data management and graph and chart preparation, Prepares correspondence. Must be willing to train in the use of Endnote.

    Qualifications

    Qualifications:

    Bachelor’s degree required. 2-5 years’ experience in a large office setting required, preferably supporting a senior executive or professional group. Experience working in a research/medical setting or comparable business environment is highly preferred. Clear writing and verbal skills. Demonstrated ability to draft reports, correspondence and other administrative documents as needed. Demonstrated ability to organize meetings, coordinate travel, and carry-out complex scheduling required.  Has excellent verbal communication skills to coordinate communications with federal funding agencies, industry sponsors, academic collaborators as well as DFCI research staff and clinicians on the antibody immunotherapy, especially CAR T, pre-clinical/clinical development programs.
