    The Clinical Operations and Business Analytics (COBA) Lead will serve an intricate role in the Informatics- Analytics Department at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.  This role will support many administrative and executive projects and reports across the Institute that drive business, operations, finance, clinical, quality and performance in oncology care. The COBA Lead will interact with different Executive stakeholders, data trustees and data stewards within those areas to ensure proper representation and materialization of their area’s analytic needs. The Lead will also work closely and coordinate with the DFCI EDW Director and team to address data requirements for analytic reporting.  This position will be responsible from the usability of the analytic and reporting platforms and ad hoc analysis for each of the aforementioned areas granting consistency within the reporting efforts at the Institute. This position shall coordinate with the work with multidisciplinary clinical and administrative teams on specific projects, serving as a primary resource for the collection, analysis, and interpretation of data. This role will provide leadership and expertise to develop, promote and drive the Clinical, Operational and Business analytics agenda and report to the Vice President of Analytics & Population Health Management.     Responsibilities

    • Enable different departments analytically working closely with the Executive stakeholders and Business Stewards (Directors & Managers) of the departments. These Departments range from Clinical (Disease Centers, Psychosocial & Palliative Care) to Operational (Institute Operations, Business Development, and Clinical Operations) & Administrative (Finance, Human Resources, Research Administration and Finance)
    • Serve as liaison to executives, physicians and/or administrators to translate their strategic and operational priorities to proactive analytics plans that will draw a timeline for their enablement and intervention’s implementation
    • Lead a team of Analysts (centralized analysts- direct reports/or area specific analyst- dotted line reports) that by partnering with the Executive stakeholders and area’s business stewards will leverage reporting and analytics to demonstrate opportunities in target categories; identify patterns and uncover risks and opportunities; and provide a foundation for continual improvement
    • Build the Analytics Community of practice by area by bringing together and supporting area’s business stewards, data stewards and dedicated analysts so they are enabled to support their business area’s needs.
    • Facilitate and execute the analytics security and access strategy by area.
    • Assist in developing methods and controls to ensure consistent application and use of data and analytics across DFCI (single source of truth).
    • Participate in new module/application implementation, systems upgrades, testing, and training for new systems and work with the VP of Analytics and Population Health Management to actively promote and support division standardization, utilization, health information exchange, integration and optimization plans for all clinical applications.
    • Contribute to management of data documentation by providing subject matter expert input into solution analysis and design
    • Lead the Data Stewardship and Governance Working Group in order to develop processes for standardizing data and build a strong community of practice.
    • Lead the team of report writers and analysts within department to ensure all requested deliverables are produced within a timely and accurate manner.
    • Serve as a member of DFCI Data Stewardship and Governance Working Group

    Qualifications

    • Master’s degree or equivalent in Public Health, Finance, Business Administration or related field with Analytics experience and or formal education
    • Minimum of four to seven years of related work experience in healthcare industry
    • Must have experience managing reporting and analytic efforts with an executive audience
    • Must be able to function independently in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities
    • Must have superior interpersonal and communication skills to effectively work and communicate with all levels (executive to analysts) of internal and external staff
    • Requires superior computer skills, i.e. MS Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Word and data mining techniques.
    • Requires knowledge of clinical data and health claims data structure and content in addition to other administrative data sources

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

    • Expert knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Access is required. Competent with additional Microsoft Office suite software (e.g. Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Visio...)
    • Familiarity with databases (e.g. SQL...) using a variety of applications (Excel, MS Access, Stata, SAS…)
    • Programming abilities and/or statistical software skills are strongly desired
    • Comfortable learning new software tools
    • Extensive knowledge of business intelligence and visualization tools is required
    • Knowledge of multiple health data software platforms (EPIC, CASS, etc.), data structures and elements
    • Proven ability to document business requirements and ability to design and develop reports
    • Solid oral and written communication skills applicable to all type of actions, analysts, data engineers, director and executive level peers
    • Must be able to function independently and manage multiple priorities
    • Must be very flexible in coordinating complex activities that are often subject to rapid or extensive changes and be able to prioritize urgent requests
