    All activities related to Data Integrity ie resolution of billing system charge edits, hold bills, and claim edits related to charge entry work and non charge entry work. Review and resolution of complex accounts that involve clinical trials. Engages with outside department and affiliates Operations Managers to identify and resolve billing system charge edits. Assists DIS I in resolving incomplete encounter forms.


    • Charge collection from all ancillary departments at main hospital campus on a daily basis
    • Daily entry of information provided on encounter forms
    • Create daily control log; print batch proofs of daily work; collate the control log with the day's batch proofs and encounters.
    • Refer incomplete encounters to the Data Integrity Specialist II and maintain a log to ensure resolution.
    • Data entry of charge adjustments from transaction sheets received from Coding, Revenue Integrity, and/or Financial Planning
    • Assist in the retrieval of encounters or other charge related material requested from Health Information Services for audit purposes, or necessary to comply with outside the Institute audit requests. 
    • Assist on billing system edits and hold bills, and clinical trial charge entry, edits and hold bills as assigned. 
    • Prepare spreadsheet used to notify Operations Managers of outstanding billing system edits for their area
    • Follow-up with Operations Managers as necessary to resolve billing system edits and incomplete encounter form questions
    • Assist the DIS I in resolution of charge credits or adjustments
    • Assist in the resolution of non charge related billing system edits, hold bills, claim edits - including those related to clinical trials.
    • Assist DI Supervisor with quarterly clinical trial internal audit/review 


    • Associates degree required or equivalent 3-4 years business office experience. 
    • Attention to detail to ensure accuracy of charge posting
    • Familiarity with Excel and spreadsheets
    • Outside department contact - requires positive attitude and interaction with others
    • Ability to recognize and communicate issues that effect the completion of primary duties
    • Ability to interact with outside department staff of greater grade (Ops Managers) to communicate issues and effect resolution - including proficiency using Outlook and email etiquette.
    • Understanding business operations to be able to assist DIS I
    • Time management skill - the work carries deadlines that must be monitored and met.
