    The primary function of an A/R Analyst is to provide reporting, analysis and summaries to the Patient Accounting department and other operational areas.  Such support requires intimate knowledge of the business operations and associated technologies in each of the functional areas, namely A/R Management, Patient Accounting Data Transactions, and Research Billing. The A/R Analyst position is responsible for the accuracy of data collection, reporting, and translation of data needed to support the Patient Accounting department in decision making activity.


    • Maintain, and revise as necessary the existing financial reporting tools, e.g., ATB Report, Denial Management Reports, Late Charge Reports, Financial Report Cards
    • Field and prioritize all data, reporting, and analysis requests
    • Facilitate and produce month-end financial reporting
    • Facilitate data extraction, reporting, and analysis to identify opportunities
    • Develop additional/alternative tools to address new reporting needs
    • Analyze data sets to identify trends, opportunities, and errors throughout billing cycles
    • Facilitate communication and understanding of financial indicators
    • Develop and distribute appropriate benchmarking tools/information
    • Coordinate and manage delivery of quarterly and annual audit data
    • Work with the Senior Managers and the Director of Patient Accounting on special projects
    • Work with the Senior Managers and Information Services teams to remediate identified technical limitations
    • Manage pipeline of requests by identifying appropriate systems and steps needed for timely completion
    • Partner with leadership including Patient Financial Services and others as appropriate to monitor AR changes and provide meaningful business insight to fluctuations including plans for remediation


    • Bachelors degree or equivalent experience required; Masters preferred
    • Experience with various software applications, including Microsoft Office (Access, Power Point, Project, Word, and Excel), Business Objects, Oracle, Monarch, BICS, and HARVEST
    • Experience with patient accounting technology and related applications experience preferred

    Knowledge, Skills and Required abilities

    • Demonstrate analytical, proactive problem-solving skills; techniques to identify and resolve issues in a timely manner, gathers and analyzes information skillfully
    • Strong technical savvy and working knowledge of analytical tools, including Microsoft Office (Excel and Access)
    • Knowledge of hospital and/or physician billing operations as well as basic third-party payor requirements
    • Dependable, self-starter, able to set priorities, manage multiple data needs, and meet deadlines
    • Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication, and organizational skills
    • Ability to work well independently, on a team, and as a trainer/facilitator
    • Demonstrate strong organizational skills; using systematic methods to perform work and creativity to recommend or create new work methods or procedures
    • Inquisitiveness, along with the ability to think logically and systematically to analyze and evaluate alternate solutions, is expected
