    This job family is responsible for a variety of tasks associated with each area of the Cell Manipulation Core Facility (CMCF). Primarily focused on product and sample management and assisting lab staff as needed by transporting samples, etc. All staff needs to perform and document daily assigned tasks during their shift, such as equipment maintenance. Additional assigned duties as assigned on a weekly basis are required to be completed by the end of the week.


    • Transports products and samples between short and long-term storage internally and externally, to and from JF-Ground and Smith-12, to/from Brigham and Women’s Hospital, the Kraft Family Donor Center and DFCI Lab control.
    • Logs in samples and products for cryopreservation and storage Catalogs and maintains product/sample inventory in logs and databases
    • Retrieves products / samples and data from departments, as required.
    • Creates and reviews reports to identify products to be discarded and work with various parties to determine appropriate next steps.
    • Act as verifier of patient information during product receipt and release.
    • Prepare shipping containers with appropriate labeling according to regulations for products and samples.
    • Observes and complies with all safe work practices, wears protective clothing when required and reports unsafe conditions to supervisor.
    • Complies with hospital and departmental policies, quality assurance programs, safety, and infection control policies and procedures.
    • Assists other lab staff, as required.
    • Performs various quality control procedures on equipment. Reports unexpected findings to the appropriate supervisor.

    • Work within the cGMP and cGTP guidelines and adheres to all regulatory standards within the Cell Manipulation Core Facility

    • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
    • Other duties as assigned.


    Ability to use computers and a variety of computer programs, LN2 tanks, and other lab equipment as it becomes available. Work in a lab following all OSHA and Safety guidelines as well as utilizing Universal Precautions.  Handling of blood and bone marrow, some of which may be positive for infectious virus and transduced with viral vectors.  Knowledgeable of working with hazardous chemicals such as, LN2, dry ice, as well as viral vectors, etc.  Lab coats and gloves to be worn along with other PPE as required by specific tasks.  Works in high volume busy lab setting which can be stressful at times. 



    • High School diploma and previous laboratory experience preferred.
    • Working knowledge of computer systems required.
    • Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing.
    • Demonstrated problem solving skills.
