    GENERAL SUMMARY:

    • Research, write, and edit a variety of documents to support the needs of the Division of Development & the Jimmy Fund in raising more than $200 million annually.
    • Serve as account lead on several assigned Business Units. Develop marketing and advertising strategies, concepts, deliverables, and plans to help business units and their fundraising events and programs meet and exceed their revenue and participation goals.

    Responsibilities

    PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Develop marketing strategies and plans that help business units and fundraising events reach target audiences, meet and exceed their revenue/participation goals, and attract new donors.
    • Serve as Development Communications main account contact with assigned business unit directors and staff, as well as physicians and donors: Carry out strategic planning and analysis, concepting, and copywriting; and oversee creative execution and production for all marketing collateral from concept through completion.
    • Collaborate as a strategic partner with assigned business units to ensure marketing tactics meet goals.
    • Collaborate with Online Marketing and Development Communications colleagues (graphic design, photography, and print and online production staff) to develop effective creative strategies and execute marketing projects on time and on budget.
    • Produce in-depth wrap-up reports, including detailed analysis that drives marketing recommendations for subsequent fiscal year.
    • Collaborate with appropriate team members to create guidelines, manuals, and templates, and enforce their usage to ensure efficient and consistent processes.
    • Work with members of the production and design staff to design and order day-of event materials, including name tags, note pads, chocolates, etc.
    • Research, write, and edit a variety of documents to support the needs of the Division of Development & the Jimmy Fund. Specific writing and marketing assignments include, but are not limited to:
    • Articles for donor newsletters and publications including Impact, Milestones, and other print and online/email newsletters (adhering to AP style)
    • Marketing collateral (one-pagers, brochures, flyers, banners, postcards, fact sheets, etc.), advertising copy (print, broadcast, radio, online, out-of-home, social media), website copy, email blasts, e-newsletters, etc
    • Event copy, including invitations, program books, and other marketing needs
    • Summaries of scientific research for lay donor and staff audiences

     

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Reports to Assistant Director, Development Communications. There is no supervisory responsibility for this position. This individual will work with a variety of individuals throughout the Institute, including prospect managers, business unit contacts, and directors.

    Qualifications

    MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

    Bachelor's degree in English, marketing, or related field required. Three to five years of copywriting and marketing experience in an agency, non-profit, or related industry required; experience in a Development setting preferred, particularly marketing for fundraising events or principal and major gifts experience.

     

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

    Also required are: Strong writing and editing abilities, strong project management experience, excellent organizational skills, proficiency in interpersonal business communications, writing strategic marketing and advertising plans, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while providing quality service to multiple business units.
