    Responsibilities

    The Graphic Designer reports directly to the Art Director and works in collaboration on all assignments and within a team environment. Responsibiolities include graphic design for a full range of projects for the Institute, both in print and online Work includes print collateral, editorial design for print publications, digital design including web banners, enewsletters, and web pages, video and video animation.

     

    • Work with other designers, art director, project managers and editors to create consistent high-quality design for print and digital communications. This includes:
      • Brochures, postcards and other print collateral
      • Digital signage and other visual ads
      • Email and enewsletter design
      • Digital graphics and infographics
      • Dynamic PowerPoint presentations
      • Web pages, sections and landing pages
      • Dynanmic, social media friendly content such as animations and short-form video
    • Review final proofs for all print materials for accuracy and to maintain quality control
    • Direct and collaborate with photographers on photo-shoots in consultation with the art director
    • Work closely with the production coordinator and the art director to assign print vendors and photographers
    • Assist in maintaining the Institute digital image archive (Portfolio)
    • Collaborate with department team members and/or participate in department client teams to ensure efficient flow of information and projects.
    • Other duties as assigned

    Qualifications

    • Demonstrated excellent understanding and application of design principles
    • Strong typography skills
    • Adept in key Adobe Creative Suite products including InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects
    • Fluency in Mac-based systems
    • High fluency in digital design, including web page and enewsletter design
    • Solid pre-press knowledge
    • HTML/CSS understanding
    • Knowledge of web-authoring software helpful, but not mandatory, (ie. Dreamweaver, Flash, Fireworks, HTML)
    • Knowledge of photography helpful, but not mandatory
    • Illustration skills helpful, but not mandatory
    • Knowledge of video production and editing tools (Adobe Premier or Final Cut Pro) helpful but not mandatory
    • 3-7 years of experience required
