    This job family is responsible for a variety of tasks associated with each area of the Cell Manipulation Core Facility (CMCF). Primarily focused on environmental monitoring and assisting lab staff as needed by transporting samples, etc. All staff needs to perform and document daily assigned tasks during their shift, such as equipment maintenance. Additional assigned duties as assigned on a weekly basis are required to be completed by the end of the week.

    Responsibilities

    • Retrieves samples and data from departments, as required.
    • Logs in research samples for cryopreservation and storage.
    • Collects Cell Infusion Records and transports products and samples between internal departments and neighboring hospitals (Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Boston Children’s Hospital)
    • Enters sample information into database and performs sample searches.
    • Environmental Monitoring of viable and non-viable air particles in class 10,000 clean room
    • Transports samples via Pevco system or hand to the Quality Control lab from the processing labs.
    • Act as verifier of patient information during product receipt and release
    • Catalogs and maintains sample inventory in logs and databases.
    • Assist with the distribution and shipment of samples for special protocols.
    • Transports products and samples between short and long-term storage Brigham and Women’s Hospital, the Kraft Family Donor Center and DFCI Lab control.
    • Performs low complexity lab procedures with appropriate training.
    • Prepare shipping containers for products.
    • Observes and complies with all safe work practices, wears protective clothing when required and reports unsafe conditions to supervisor.

    • Complies with hospital and departmental policies, quality assurance programs, safety, and infection control policies and procedures.

    • Assist in the identification of products to be removed from inventory.

    • Assists other lab staff, as required.

    • Performs various quality control procedures on equipment. Reports unexpected findings to the appropriate supervisor.

    • Work within the cGMP and cGTP guidelines and adheres to all regulatory standards within the Cell Manipulation Core Facility

    • Other duties as assigned.

     

    Qualifications

    • High School diploma and previous laboratory experience required.
    • Working knowledge of computer systems required.
    • Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing.
    • Demonstrated problem solving skills.
