The hours for this position are 10:30am- 7pm Monday - Friday with some weekend coverage and on call required. The Dana Farber Hematology Laboratory is equipped with the latest in instrument technology, the lab uses Beckman DxH/SMS lines for CBC's and auto differentials and reticuloytes, the Beckman IRIS Workstation for routine urinalysis and Diagnostica Stago Compact's for coagulation testing. As we see a large number of abnormal manual differentials each day, experience performing this type of differential would be a plus. We also perform wright geimsa and histochemical staining of bone marrow aspirates.
This is a fast paced out patient environment that functions essentially as a STAT laboratory performing 600-700 CBC with differentials/ 14 hour day.
AS, MLT (ASCP) or nationally recognized equivalent with a minimum of 5 years experience working in a chemistry laboratory preferred or BS, MT (ASCP) or nationally recognized equivalent with a minimum of 3 years experience working in a chemistry laboratory preferred.
Training in OSHA Bloodborne Pathogen Standard, Advanced Fire/Safety, Infection Control, and Departmental Safety is required annually.
